The extension talks only to the MojoPad app on your own computer, and nowhere else. The Clip to MojoPad browser extension has no server, no cloud, no account, and no analytics. We never receive any of your data.
It does two things: clipping (save the page you're reading into MojoPad), and — only if you turn it on inside MojoPad — highlighting (underline phrases on pages you read that match the names of pages in your own MojoPad wiki).
When you click the Clip to MojoPad toolbar button, the extension reads the content of that one tab — its HTML and images — and hands it to the MojoPad desktop app running on the same machine, over Chrome's local native messaging channel. MojoPad turns it into a page in your local document. Clipping reads a page only when you click.
Highlighting is controlled by a switch inside the MojoPad app (Settings ▸ Web Clipper). Until you turn it on there, the extension has nothing to match against and does nothing on the pages you visit. With it on:
